Gaming Worlds

MMORPG stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. These games are actually giant worlds were thousands of people connected to the Internet can play simultaneously. The setting is often a fantasy world that includes magic and dragons and the like, but there have been successful worlds that take place in the future, in space and even in the Star Wars genre. The idea behind the game is that you create a character in this world that specializes in some skill, be it a fighter, a trader, a medic, a thief, or perhaps a magic user; and set out to make a name for yourself.

Video Games and Gaming - A Review of Ogre Island

As you continue through the wilderness meeting players, battling monsters, finding ancient tomes of wisdom be sure to keep a keen look out for some special players! The most skilled player in the game though not the highest level (timetogonow) is a very intense and highly adept player.

MMORPG: What Is It ?

Ultima online and Everquest kicked off the MMORPG hype that we experience today, and many of the bigger game companies want a piece of that cake. In 2004 Blizzard Entertainment indeed took a big piece of the cake for themselves with World of Warcraft, which entertains nearly 7 million people today (2006).

MMORPGs Can Improve Your Typing and Reading Skills!

Aside from teaching you to type faster, MMORPGs can also help you read better to. Because I started playing MMORPGs at such a young age, having to interact with other players has helped my vocabulary grow. Having to constantly read and understand quest dialogue, MMORPGs actually force players to read. Having to constantly read quest dialogue and user chat, players will indirectly improve their own vocabulary and reading level.

Did you know that Chinese MMORPG Gold companies make hundreds of millions of dollars every year by just selling AoC Gold and offering Powerleveling Services?! Ever wonder how some Chinese MMORPG Gold Companies have thousands and even millions of gold!?

MMO Game Or MMO Grind?

Mmorpg games today require way too much grinding. This isn't a new trend, as the leveling system has been with us since the dawn of the online games, but I'm surprised that developers haven't found a new way to allow players to advance.

Can You Make Real Money From Online Games?

Second Life has its own "virtual" economy where residents pay each other (Linden dollars) for services, land and goods. Linden dollars can be traded for real life dollars. An Article in September 2006 Popular Science magazine said that that Second Life has a GDP of $64 Million (and that's real world dollars!). As I write this in May 2007 I can see $1,417,878 have been spent in Second Life in the past 24 hours!

Finding The Answer

Keep in mind that World of Warcraft has won Best MMORPG at the 2004 Online Game Awards and 2005 Online Game Awards.

The Rules

Comments that capture the spirit of the battle without bad language and overuse of caps will be displayed in the results article at the end of the week.

The UFP and the Filthy Humans

This isn't really an MMORPG idea, but it's a game idea so I'm filing it with the others of those. Here's the thing: you are an officer, say a commodore, in the military-diplomatic-exploration organization of an interplanetary nation with United Federation of Planets (UFP) membership. You've been tasked with asserting your nation's interests with respect to a certain out-of-the-way planet that happens to be rich in natural resources. Unfortunately, it's already inhabited, by a race of disgusting natives we will call the Filthy Humans.
